Large Lantern Electric Blind Installation with Heavy Duty System
We have just installed some heavy duty electric blinds to this large orangery in Winchester. The orangery was getting very hot in the summer so our client wanted some extra shade to allow them to use the room more frequently. Our robust roof lantern blinds provided the perfect solution; at the push of a button the blind draws across the bottom of the lantern to provide some much needed respite from the sun. Custom made to fit, the blind installed was 2.2 x 5.8 metres and the fabric was a 3% screen so that the room didn’t become too dark. Power was installed by an electrician and we worked with them to ensure the power point was suitable for the application.
Smooth Zip Technology
All of our roof lantern blinds use a ‘zip’ system. The zip is attached to the length of the blind fabric and this runs inside a channel surrounding the boundary of the opening. This ensures that the blind opens and closes smoothly and remains taut.
As this was a large roof lantern, we used our heavy duty electric blind system which prevents sagging. A double motor is used to open and close the blind and the tension of the fabric is adjusted to make sure the fabric lies flat. This system also features two very thin (1.5mm) steel cables running the length of the lantern to provide extra support to the large area of fabric.
