We installed two six-metre electric roof blinds into a penthouse property at the Metropolitan Wharf building on the North Bank of the River Thames, London. The listed Tom Dixon designed apartments all boast original features including large expanses of angled glass roof space. The building’s project manager contracted The Electric Blind Company to fit two blinds to provide shade, as well as enhance and soften the large roof voids. The blinds were also integrated into the building’s Crestron automation system.
Electric Blinds For Glass Roof
Electric blinds are perfect for glass roofs. Roof blinds operate using a unique zip system that guides the fabric across the void. This zip also keeps the fabric taut to prevent sagging. We can also fit a headbox to hide the blind from view when it is not in use.

Our electric blinds can be controlled via a simple wall switch, hand-held remote control or by using an app on your smartphone or tablet. We even have options for voice-controlled smart blinds using Alexa or HomeKit enabled smart devices. In this example, we connected the blinds to the apartment’s inbuilt automation system. We can connect our electric blinds to most of the leading home automation systems on the market. This allows you to operate the blinds from your computer, smartphone or tablet.
